Multimodal 2008 Exhibition

Forest Freight recently exhibited at the Multimodal 2008 exhibition at the NEC, Comment from Darren L Brown Sales Director (pictured left) "the show gave us an opportunity to meet current and old customers and to meet new potential customers. The show allowed us to demonstrate the services of Forest Freight to a wide network of logistics professionals. Our added value logistics services, warehouse and storage and transport in the North and South has expanded over the past two years, and this show allowed us to communicate our capabilities."

Changes in personnel at the Northern Distribution Centre

Kevin Costello has been appointed as the new Depot Manager at Forest Freight Ltd Northern Distribution Centre at South Kirkby. Kevin joins us from Bibby Distribution where he had considerable experience in both the warehousing, logistics and transport contracts for several blue chip companies. Kevin's primary responsibilities are the operation of the warehousing facility and transport in the North.

Kevin has been joined in the office by Dave Howard. His position is newly created to support Kevin but he will also be responsible for driver training and the vehicle scheduling. New WMS for Forest Freight

After months of discussions and negotiations Forest Freight has selected Clandestine Software’s ‘LocateIT’ for its new warehouse management system (WMS). The system should be operational at the end of quarter one 2008 and will initially be used for the ERT’s, container loading and storage operations.

The system will operate from both the Rainham and South Kirkby warehouses, with Rainham operating the system via RF hand held processes (radio data terminals) linked to bar coded labels giving real time data.

The system delivers huge functionality and is expected to enable improvements in both the speed we can operate as well as warehouse accuracy. Part of the new system includes a pick/pack module to enhance the operational systems in our logistics and warehouse activities to both existing and new customers.

Leading edge 21st century technology means that Forest Freight can better function as an integrated part of our customers' businesses. Web based capabilities means that customers will also be able to access information, including stock availability.

LocateIT will interface with MANDATA (the current transport scheduling system) and the in-house accounts package.

Forest Freight takes delivery of 2 new Mitsubishi FG25N

Forest Freight has taken delivery of another 2 fork trucks from Bronze Mechanical Handling based at West Thurrock. These trucks based at the Rainham site will be gas powered, and will be used on existing and new contracts that we are undertaking in 2008.

This latest acquisition to our fleet of fork trucks brings the total supplied by Bronze Mechanical to 5 fork lift trucks over the past 4 years. These trucks will be used 24 hours per day, 6 days a week.

Forest Freight operates its Rainham warehouses for storage operations for loading and unloading containers, transhipment/cross dock and customs facilities (ERTS).
