What are full truck load services?
Commonly referred to as ‘FTL’, full truck load services in road freight is when a truck carries a single dedicated consignment. The main difference between FTL vs LTL is that this delivery is usually for one customer, going to one destination. For example, this could be a freight delivery of palletised building materials headed for a construction site. Full truck load services are particularly beneficial if you want to move lots of goods more cost-effectively – as it’s much cheaper to book one full lorry through one dedicated haulier compared to making multiple bookings. It also means that freight delivery can be made quicker, as there are no pick-ups or drop-offs between the source and the destination, with no handling mid-transit. So if you need to have large consignments delivered quickly and cheaply, full truck load services are often the way to go!

How many pallets fit on a truck?
The number of pallets that can fit on a truck for freight delivery does vary depending on the size of the truck you’re using. For full truck load services with Forest Freight, you can fit as many as 26 pallets on each artic lorry, allowing us to transport your goods quickly and effectively with little to no hassle. However, the number of pallets may change depending on the overall weight of your freight delivery. Typically, the standard weight for full truck load deliveries is 44,000 pounds but this can vary for different types of freight vehicles.
In the UK and Europe, over half of the total pallet load of a freight delivery truck is considered a full truck load (FTL). These shipments can include bulk or oversized items, delicate cargo, time sensitive goods and heavy haulage. If you have a delivery of less than this pallet number, it wouldn’t be as cost-effective to use full truck load services as opposed to less than truckload services. However, if speed is your primary concern, then FTL freight delivery should be preferential.
Why choose road freight?
Road freight delivery is the connector between sea freight, air freight and even railway freight. For an island like the UK, road freight is vital for transporting goods across the country quickly, and hauliers like us are dedicated to ensuring consignments make it to their destinations as fast as possible.
For vital services such as the transportation of construction materials into central London, you cannot utilise effective sea, air or railway networks – so road freight is the only solution. We are the final step in the process of getting goods from A to B, with affordable freight delivery prices.
How long does freight delivery take?
The length of freight delivery really depends on your timelines and the distance of the delivery. A full truck load service from Rainham to London is going to take far less time than from London to Glasgow, for example! At Forest Freight, we offer 24/7 pick up and delivery to guarantee fast deliveries wherever you are – with same-day turnarounds available on specific quotes.
We also have two state-of-the-art depots – one in the south of the UK and one in the north. This allows us to cover more ground and get the job done faster!
We hold all the relevant accreditations to get your goods in and out of London safely.
